Geneva County- On Sunday, July 1, Alabama State Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Geneva County 64 five miles north of Samson. While attempting to locate and identify the driver, troopers discovered a brief case inside the vehicle containing $13,400 in U.S. currency. During the investigation, troopers observed a man emerging from a wooded area near the scene of the crash.
The man was identified as 49-year-old Barry Lee Wilson of Hartford. Wilson told troopers that the currency was his and that he had won a Florida lottery. Wilson then was taken into custody for driving under the influence of a controlled substance and placed in the Geneva County Jail.
