An employee with the Alabama Department of Transportation was killed on duty in Sumter County on Monday.
Alabama State Troopers report that Tonnie Bernard Watkins was driving an International Dump truck in a construction zone on Interstate 59. At approximately 10:20 a.m., a 2014 International ProStar collided with the dump truck near the 19.5 mile marker, approximately two and a half miles north of Livingston.
Troopers say Watkins was seriously injured. He was transported to Hill Hospital in York where he was pronounced dead.
