All power restored for WEC members after April 25 storm
WEC restored 9,500 members to power along with help from outside cooperatives
HARTFORD, Ala. — Last night, Wiregrass Electric Cooperative (WEC) declared all power restored to its members after devastating storms destroyed over 30 power poles throughout its service area on Saturday. After the storm, roughly 9,500 members were without power due to the extensive damage to the cooperative’s distribution system.
“Our employees, as well as those crews sent from our sister cooperatives, have accomplished a monumental task over the last two days,” says Brad Kimbro, chief operating officer at WEC. “We could not be more grateful and more proud.”
Cooperatives who sent crews to help are Pea River, Pioneer, Central, South Alabama and Tallapoosa River electric cooperatives.
WEC urges anyone who is without power to call 1-888-469-6882 immediately so they can be notified.
