DOTHAN) The Zonta Club of Dothan announces its Amelia Earhart Essay Contest for 2015. This year's theme is “How Amelia Earhart Inspires Me”. The contest is open to 6th, 7th, & 8th grade students in the Wiregrass area. Prizes of $100, $50, and $25 will be awarded for the 3 best essays. Essays must be received by midnight, December 31, 2015. Winning entries will be notified by January 16, 2016 and awards will be presented January 25, 2016 during the Zonta Club of Dothan luncheon meeting at the Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center.

 

The Zonta Club of Dothan’s service projects focus primarily on Chrysalis, A Home for Girls, Wiregrass Habitat for Humanity Women Build, The House of Ruth, Healthy You’s Genesis II Transitional Home and The Exchange Center for Child Abuse Prevention. The club also provides a Young Women in Public Affairs scholarship, Jane M. Klauseman scholarship and funds for the local Distinguished Young Women Scholarship Program. Funds are raised through an annual Poinsettia Sale and International Food Festival at the Peanut Festival Fairgrounds on March 21, 2016.
