Wiregrass adults and children with disabilities and their families will be participating in an Amtryke Bike Day Event Tuesday, June 5 at Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center (WRC), Inc. Participants will learn about AMBUCS and the Amtryke Therapeutic Tricycle program.
Free evaluations will be provided by appropriate therapists and medical professionals from 3:00-6:00 p.m. If funding support is needed, riders can then be placed on the National Wish List to receive their own AmTryke. The bike day event will be held at WRC’s Sterling Event Services/Rotary Hall located at 795 Ross Clark Circle in Dothan. The event is being sponsored by the non-profit Wiregrass Chapter of AMBUCS organization.
Founded in 1922, National AMBUCS, Inc., is a non-profit service organization consisting of a diverse group of men and women dedicated to creating mobility and independence for people with disabilities. That mission is fulfilled by performing various forms of community service, awarding scholarships to therapists, and providing Amtryke therapeutic tricycles to individuals who are unable to operate traditional bikes. Currently, there are over 5,500 AMBUCS members spread out in more than 130 chapters in 28 different states. For more information, please visit www.ambucs.org.
