MONTGOMERY: One of my bond agents had been out of town and was returning to Dothan. The right rear tire blew out. He was in Montgomery County southbound on Highway 231.
He did not have a jack or a lug wrench. Not knowing who to call I told him that I was on the way. I went by WalMart North and purchased a small floor jack and four way lug wrench. Off to Montgomery I went.
When I pulled up in Montgomery three young men were changing the tire. They had stopped when they saw him side of the road. The three took their jack and lug wrench and got dirty and changed the tire.
My bond agent, Larry, said cars passed and passed and these were the only ones who stopped. Their names are Jerame Fenner, John Morgan and Schuyler Oglesby.
Here is what is interesting; Larry is from Headland and these three young men are from Dothan.
So while everyone passed Larry, our Dothan people stopped to help someone in need, broke down with a blown tire.
And what else is interesting - everyone yells race. Larry is a black male and these three young men are white males.
My points are: (1) travelers did not stop but these three young men displayed what Dothan - Houston County people are about - willing to stop and help, and (2) they, Dothan - Houston County people, are color blind.
THANKS to Jerame Fenner, John Morgan and Schuyler Oglesby for getting Larry back on the road. THANKS for displaying what Dothan - Houston County is all about.
