Charles Metzger with the City of Dothan and Ricky Saliba with Saliba Construction met yesterday at the Westgate Park site selected for the Angel of Hope Statue. The City has given the green light so hopefully within the next few days Saliba Construction will begin on the circular foundation and walkway.
As I left the meeting I just looked up into the sky and said Thank you , I have no doubt that you are in full control of this Angel Of Hope Project. I believe that all of the Children in Heaven placed their hands on this project with their blessings.
The $14,500 bronze statue is being made at a foundry in Utah and I should be receiving it by the end of October. Once everything is completed there will be a dedication ceremony sometime in November. Lisa Johnson with the Angel Of Hope Foundation will come to participate in the ceremony.
I know that there are many parents who have lost a child who will be happy to know that the first Remembrance Candlelight Vigil will be held this upcoming December 6th. I never imagined how many different lives The Angel of Hope Statue would touch and how many more it will touch in the years to come.
To all the grieving parents that I’ve had the honor to meet and to all those I haven’t met ...This Angel Of Hope Statue is all for You. I hope you know that all the generous people who have donated did it so that your child will never be forgotten.
The community, the Mayor, City Commissioners, the City Manager and the City Engineering Department have embraced you. For me...I love you all.
I’m still raising money for the granite needed for the base and the benches. If you would like to help by donating to this wonderful project go to:
