FADETTE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT ANNOUNCES GREATLY IMPROVED ISO RATING
THE FADETTE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT WAS NOTIFIED BY THE INSURANCE SERVICES OFFICE ON APRIL 4, 2014 THAT WE IMPROVED OUR STRUCTURAL FIRE SUPRESSION DELIVERY SYSTEM FROM A CLASS 6/9 TO A PUBLIC PROTECTION CLASSIFICATION OF 3/3Y.
THIS SHOULD ALLOW RESIDENTS AS WELL AS BUSINESSES OF OUR DISTRICT TO SEE A SUBSTATIAL REDUCTION IN INSURANCE PREMUIMS.
THIS NEW SPLIT RATING OF A 3Y WILL ALLOW FOR RESIDENTS THAT LIVE BEYOND 1000’ OF A FIRE HYDRANT, BUT WITHIN FADETTE’S RESPONSE DISTRICT , TO ALSO ENJOY A REDUCTION IN RATES DUE TO IMPROVEMENTS MADE BY OUR DEPARTMENT. A CLASS 3Y IS DEFINED BY ISO AS
“Class 3Y is a Public Protection Classification (PPC™) for communities that provide superior fire protection services and fire alarm facilities but lack the water supply required for a PPC of Class 8 or better.
To compensate for limited water supplies, many communities have improved their firefighting equipment, training, and management techniques, as well as their fire alarm systems. Class 3Y will recognize those improvements.”
THE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT BOARD OF DIRECTORS AS WELL AS THE FIRE CHIEF WOULD LIKE TO FIRST THANK THE MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY WHO VOLUNTEER THEIR TIME AS VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY. WITHOUT THEM, NONE OF THIS WOULD BE POSSIBLE. SECONDLY, WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK OUR NEIGHBORS OF THE FADETTE COMMUNITY WHO VOTED FOR THE $50 PER HOUSE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT FEE. THIS FUNDING ALLOWED US TO PURCHASE THE EQUIPMENT NEEDED TO KEEP THE ISO RATING LOW, AND KEEP IT LOW IN THE FUTURE. THE SAVINGS IN INSURANCE PREMIUMS FAR OUT WEIGH THE $50 FEE.
THIS RATING TAKES EFFECT JULY 1ST 2014.
