DOTHAN:     Yesterday Dothan Police were very busy. In addition to the arrests of the burglary suspects, Dothan Police made an arrest of a woman on 44 counts Child Pornography.


Dothan Police arrested 29 year old Samantha Victoria Bryant. Bryant shows an address of 1981 South Oates Street in Dothan. She reflects an address of 1981 South Oates Street in Dothan.


At the time of the arrest of the 44 counts of Child Pornography by Dothan Police Department, Bryant was in the Houston County Jail on a case made by Investigator Christopher Poore for Sexual Abuse of a Child under 12. At the time of that arrest, January 13, 2013, Bryant showed an address in Midland City.


Bryant was indicted by a Houston County Grand Jury for the Sexual Abuse by a Houston County Grand Jury on November 20, 2012.


Bryant made bond, was returned to jail and made bond again. Bryant apparently entered a plea of guilt in the Sexual Abuse case on June 5, 2013 and was sentenced by Judge Mike Conaway to 6 years. She apparently made an application for probation.


Then Judge Conaway issued an order revoking Bryant's bond and she was re-arrested and placed in Houston County Jail on June 14, 2013.


There is an order in the court file where the court ordered a mental evaluation on Bryant. The report is in the court file but not available for viewing. Where the case actually stands on the Sexual Abuse is a good question.


Child Pornography


This case is made by Dothan Police Department. We know there are 44 counts. Bryant was transported from Houston County Jail to Dothan City Jail where she was arrested and booked on the 44 counts of Child Pornography. After being booked into the Dothan City Jail Bryant was again transported back to the Houston County Jail.


Bryant was scheduled for first appearance before Houston County District Court Judge Benjamin Lewis this morning. That did not happen because the paperwork had not been submitted to the Judge at the time of first appearances.
