Arrest Made for Conspiracy to Commit Murder

 The Dothan Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigations have conducted a joint investigation regarding a conspiracy to commit murder. The investigation involved a local couple who were in the process of getting a divorce. The suspect, white male Steven Michael Capshaw, 52 years of age of Leonard Drive in Dothan, hired an undercover agent to kill his estranged wife. Capshaw was taken into custody on Friday October 30, 2009 and booked in the Dothan City Jail. On Monday November 2, 2009, Capshaw was transported to the Federal Courthouse in Montgomery and was charged with Murder for Hire. This case is ongoing and other arrests are pending.


The Dothan Police Department would like to thank the Federal Bureau of Investigations, The Middle District of Alabama United States Attorney’s Office, United States Marshal Service Fugitive Task Force, The Houston County District Attorney’s Office and the Houston County Sheriffs Department with their assistance in this case.


All other information regarding this investigation will be provided by the United States Attorney’s Office in Montgomery Alabama.
