ASHFORD:   Tonight the 12 Board Members, Foundation Members, Alumni, Faculty and friends gathered the in gymnasium of Ashford Academy. The purpose of the meeting was to hear about the status of the school.

Ashford Academy needs MONEY. To finish through July of this year with the teacher contracts, about $ 240,000.00 is needed. The school has 162 students, however 122 are paying. The others have scholarships. To sustain, the school needs about 35 more paying students. About 165 to 175 paying students.

Ashford Academy has seen a steady decline in enrollment over the past 12 years. Many factors contribute to the decline.

The 12 board members have signed personal guarantees on loans. The board members have placed their personal assets on the line for the school to survive so far. But the board members have made a decision to close  because the revenue is not there to continue.

Ashford Academy is a family. Most of the faculty, students and families were not aware there was a major economic crisis at the school. Many discussed rolling up their sleeves and going to work to save the 45 year old private school.

Eddie Ingram gave the first $ 100 to kick off fund raising. Cynthia Green said the alumni was willing to go to work to raise money to save the school.

Where does Ashford Acacdemy go from here? RAISE MONEY!!! Get students to enroll in Ashford Academy. The battle has just begun - many are willing to work to keep the school open and running.

RSN offers the school free advertisement for whatever is needed. RSN is willing to help. I attended Ashford Academy in the second grade. In fact, Mr. Ingles was my school bus driver, Jasper Meadows was Headmaster, Mavis Sunday ran the lunchroom.

Stay Tuned.

TO THE BOARD:  Thank you for your willingness to be up front with the faculty, students and family. As described, Ashford Academy is a family. It is understood you have to stop the decline in money and you are personally responsible. HATS OFF to you in making things work so far. However RSN can help, let me know.
