At Age 27. Ricky Beck Had A Stroke And Left Side Numbness - No Use In Left Arm and Leg

DOTHAN: On Tuesday November 18 Bail Enforcement Agents Ricky Beck and Toby Stacy were on the eastside of Ross Clark Circle in Dothan. Beck began to complain of hurting in his chest and dizziness. Toby suggested they pull over at Winn Dixie and Beck step out of the truck and get some fresh air.

Shortly after Beck got out of the truck Toby could not see him so Toby got out to check on him. Beck was found bent over and complaining of numbness on his left side. Toby tossed Beck in the truck, it me on the Linc, and carried Beck to the Emergency Department of SAMC.

Within 10 minutes of the numbness, Toby had Beck in the Emergency Room. The staff of SAMC evaluated him quickly and fast track it went.

Within 30 minutes of Beck going numb, he was in the Emergency Department, and Doctors from Grady Hospital in Atlanta were examining him via computer and camera, with verbal dialogue.

Within 58 minutes of Beck arriving in the ER, the stroke TPA shot was administered. The doctor from Grady’s had already made the call, regardless of the test results. Beck was coming to Atlanta.

Grady’s Hospital had a helicopter 45 minutes from Dothan and it was dispatched.

Within3 hours of his being presented in the ER, Beck was in the air on the way to Grady’s Hospital by helicopter.

On the examination at SAMC, Beck refused to smile, could not remember people or where he lived, refused to stick his tounge out. He was a healthy male, age 33, with no medical history. The CAT Scans did not reveal issues with the brain. But the Grady’s Doctor said get him to Atlanta.

The next morning he called and asked me, where am I and how did I get here?

However, he is paralyzed completely on his left side, arm and leg.

After a series of tests and about 40 doctors, nurses, and more healthcare specialists, he was released with left side numbness and paralysis. However Grady’s said he should come back to base line.

He is undergoing rehab in Dothan as an outpatient and seeing other healthcare specialist.

He has handled it well. Going from a life of running 250 MPH to sudden impact STOP!!! From doing whatever you wanted to the fact you can not roll the wheelchair because paralyzed on the left side.

THANKFULLY Toby Stacy was a quick thinker. THANKFULLY someone was with him.

THANKFULLY he was right in front of the hospital.

THANKFULLY leaders were once wise and two great medical facilities are in Dothan Alabama. And the leadership is forward thinking in technology and advanced critical care.

DO NOT WAIT FOLKS – as to strokes – there is a magic window of onset of symptoms to the TPA shot in an effort to save your life and quality of life.

And thanks to Circuit Court Clerk Carla Woodall and my pastor, Rev. Jim Tate. Brother Jim was on jury duty. I called Carla and got him to SAMC.

While Beck’s healthcare was important, more important was – what his relationship with JESUS CHRIST was.

Brother Jim was able to settle that issue before Beck’s departure to Atlanta.
