At today’s Dothan City Commission Meeting; Commissioners voted yes to everything on the agenda. They also approved the settlement regarding the law suit with the EPA and the ADEM. The city has fixed, changed, and met all the requirements set by both the ADEM and EPA.
Commissioner’s also voted to submit an application to the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs for grant assistance from the Recreational Trails Program in the amount of $100,000.00 to be used to construct nine miles of trails and construct three trailheads on the Forever Wild property and agreeing to place in reserve $25,000.00 to fulfill the City’s contribution to this project.
A Public Hearing regarding the proposed Community Development Block Grant 2014 Projects and the Reprogram Funds. A representative from the Hawks Houston Boys and Girls Club spoke to the commission requesting consideration for the block grant money. She spoke about how things would be without the club and how the club has been good for the community. They have made some much needed improvements to the building but could use some help with the lighting and HVAC system upgrades.
