Attorney General Luther Strange STOPS Alabama Residents From Draftkings

MONTGOMERY:    Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange has stopped the Alabama residents from playing "online" DRAFTKING.

DraftKings, Inc. is a leading skill-based Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) gaming destination for fans in North America to compete in single-day online games for cash and prizes across the largest variety of professional and collegiate sports.  DraftKings is the exclusive DFS partner of Major League Baseball, the National Hockey League, Major League Soccer, NASCAR and Ultimate Fighting Championship.  Founded in 2012 by CEO Jason Robins, CRO Matt Kalish and COO Paul Liberman, DraftKings is headquartered in Boston, Mass.

This morning Alabama residents who have accounts with DRAFTKING received the following message ( see picture ).

The message reads;

"we are writing to let you know that, effective today, as part of a settlement reached with the Attorney General's office, Draftkings will stop offering paid fantasy sports contests in Alabama. We understand that this news is disappointing and we know that you share our passion for fantasy sports in Alabama. As you may know, Draftkings is working with state lawmakers across the country to enact fantasy sports legislation, and we are hopeful to engage with the Alabama legislature in the future, as we believe this to be the best path forward for state residents to play the fantasy games they love. In the meantime, here is what this change means for your account, effective April 29, 2016, players located in Alabama will no longer be able to participate in paid fantasy contests in Draftkings. All accounts will be restricted for paid contest entry and deposit while in the state. If you are outside the State of Alabama, you will state be allowed to play.

We wish to thank Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange for his focus on this online DRAFTKING. We understand what people do from their own home or business online with sports is far more important than the rash number of murders in Montgomery, Birmingham, and other areas of the state.

Gambling is far more important than the unsolved murders of this state.
