Barbour County Sheriff's Office Recovers Stolen Property, Catches One in the Act

On 11-02-2009 Sheriff LeRoy Upshaw received information to the location of some property that was stolen from 325 Co. Rd. 41 in Clio Alabama. After gaining permission to search the residence and property of Dusty Grantham located on hwy 131 in Texasville, Sheriff Upshaw discovered approximately $8000.00 worth of stolen property belonging to Mr Leonard Roberson. The property was then returned to the victim. Mr Grantham has been charged with the burglary and is currently in the Barbour County Jail.

On 11-04-09 Sheriff LeRoy Upshaw was conducting a check on a house located at 825 Cotton Avenue in Eufaula Alabama. Sheriff Upshaw noticed the front door had been broken into and proceeded inside. He found 26 year old Benjamin Holloway of Eufaula inside the residence and placed him under arrest. Mr Holloway was charged with burglary 3rd and transported to jail.

Deputies from the Barbour County Sheriffs Office also arrested 40 year old Mark Renfroe of Pittsview Alabama while assisting AST on a road block on Hwy 165 in Eufaula. Deputies Jason Benefield and Paul Motzenbecker conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle after smelling what they believed to be marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed approximately 1/4 pound of marijuana 5 grams of Methamphetamine, Ecstasy, liquid morphine, a 9mm handgun, and chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine. Mr Renfroe was charged with possession of a controlled ssubstance possession of marijuana and  unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance. There are other charges pending.
