Irony struck Tuesday when a Bay County firefighter was on the other end of an emergency call, when his fire truck caught fire.

The call was made just after three o'clock this afternoon. The truck was on its way back to the station when the driver noticed smoke coming from the back. He immediately pulled over and got out safely before it caught fire. He was the only one in the truck and was even able to save some equipment. Unfortunately, he couldn't use the hoses to put the fire out ...because they too were on fire. Officials are looking into what started the fire, but say it's tough losing a truck.
