Black Lives Matter, White Lives Matter, All Lives Matter... Really?

In recent months, we’ve all heard it; “Black Lives Matter”. In response, we’ve heard; “White Lives Matter” and then there is “All Lives Matter”. We’ve watched in total shock, the sickening news coverage of cities destroyed, police officers murdered, our nation racially divided and pure evil and hatred spewed from the mouths of all involved. Both, black and white.

I spent more than 30 years as a law enforcement officer and served a few months in Iraq and Afghanistan. I thought I’d seen the absolute worst in humanity; things that would make a buzzard puke. Boy… was I wrong!

I, like so many of you, have seen lying, corrupt and self-serving politicians from Montgomery, AL all the way to the Whitehouse destroy innocent peoples’ dreams and lives while pushing their self-righteous rhetoric and non-Biblical agenda on those they think are less than they.

We’ve watched very one-sided national media coverage of a presidential election like no other in history. Never reporting as unbiased and fair, but what THEY wanted America to see, hear and believe. What THEY know will keep America divided.

The absolute worst are the self-proclaimed “Pastors” that speak publicly with the intent to create hate and divide our nation even more. When instead, they should be preaching “soul-searching salvation” and the “true word of God” to everyone! YOU, Mr. Pastor, have your very special place in hell; be very assured of that.

America, during the past decade, has become an even more racially divided nation where very few of us can now see past the skin color of another person. We only have our national media (the Devil’s outlet) to thank for that. Contrary to popular belief, it wasn’t Obama’s fault; he watches the news too.

Before I go any further, I must be completely honest with each of you. During the last few years, I have personally felt my own dislike and discontent for some individuals and groups (both white and black) rage within me. So much that I welcomed a confrontation with those I felt wronged me and/or our Country.

You see… little by little I’d let the “world” slowly filter into my heart and soul and push GOD to the rear. I realized that this past week while having a casual conversation during breakfast with my children and grandchildren. 

My oldest daughter’s sister-n-law (Julie) and her husband (Tim) recently went to Haiti on a mission’s trip and their lives changed forever. My daughter showed me a picture of a small Haitian born baby (now living with Julie and Tim) with severe medical problems including a cleft-lip and no feet or hands. This child is sweetly named, “Pedro”. She told me that they brought this baby back with them from Haiti to Alabama to get him medical help for his disabilities (that could prove fatal). They’re also trying hard to adopt this baby. Then she went on to tell me that in Haiti, many children like Pedro are labeled as ”Cocobai” (a Creole word that translates to mean “worthless” or “disgrace”). A word never used by Julie nor Tim to describe Pedro or any child.

Haiti, being one of the poorest nations in the western hemisphere, does not have the provisions to deal with children with disabilities like Pedro. Without any intervention from an outside source, children or “Cocobai’s” like Pedro are simply disposed of like garbage. That’s right, put out to die.

As my interest peaked in Pedro and his situation, I asked to see more pictures of him. I came across one picture of Julie passionately hugging Pedro as only a “mother” can hug her child. At that moment, my heart broke and the tears swelled. I truly felt ashamed of myself for allowing the wickedness in this world to invade my soul and influence my thoughts about others: many whom I don’t even know.

You see… Julie is white and Pedro is black. When I looked at her hugging that child in such a loving way, I didn’t see neither white nor black. I saw a mother and a baby… both loving and needing each other in the way that God intended all of us to love one another. It’s amazing that in that one picture there is a true lesson from God to all of us. A message taught by God since the beginning of time. If we could just get past our self-righteous ways and beliefs; what a wonderful country it would be.

I hope that me sharing this story doesn’t make Julie and Tim uncomfortable. They certainly don’t want self-notoriety nor the attention. It’s going to cost this young couple thousands upon thousands of dollars to legally adopt Pedro and get him the medical attention needed to save his life. They simply saw a child in need and God’s overwhelming love in them made bringing Pedro home to Alabama an easy decision.

WE claim to be a 'Christian Nation' but we’re so far from that now. Wouldn’t it be great if, just for a few hours, we could all see each other the way God intended for us to? Look past our differences (and skin color) and see each other the way Julie and Tim see Pedro.

A child (Cocobai) destined for disposal, that nobody wanted, now feels the unconditional love of wonderful parents and God himself. These two young parents show us all that, in-fact, All Lives Do Matter… just the way God intended it.
