LEXINGTON COUNTY, South Carolina -- Arrangements are being made to have the bodies of five children found in garbage bags off Highway 10 near Camden, Ala. returned to Lexington County, S.C. where autopsies will be completed.
Lexington County Sheriff Lewis McCarty said this evening that charges are pending against the children's father, Timothy Ray Jones Jr., 32. He is currently charged with unlawful neglect of a child by a legal custodian.
Jones is currently being held in the Smith County, Miss. Jail after being arrested Sept. 6 on charges connected to a motor vehicle public safety checkpoint, the sheriff stated in a release.
Jones reportedly admitted to killing his children and told authorities he dumped their bodies off Alabama Highway 10 between Camden and Greenville, Ala.
The children's bodies were located at around 3:30 p.m. today with the assistance of federal, state and local law enforcement.
The Alabama Department of Public Safety said the crime scene was located on a dirt road near the Oak Hill community in Wilcox County.
