The area region bomb squad deals with up to 60 cases a year. To help stay up to date with their tactics the squad attended a three day Post Blast Investigation course put on by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
"The officers will eventually have to deal with some type of these investigations be it in a fire or explosive incident and the explosive incident can range from a chemical reaction type device in the mail box or a pyro-technical device in a school setting or as large as a vehicle explosion that may occur in this area,” said Public Information Officer Michael Knight.
The training includes a series of six explosions - commercial explosions and military explosions.
After the bombs were detonated officers examined the scene and started making their assessments.
"For our agency if we were to have to respond to a bombing incident have to be recreated or reconstructed it would allow us to use this knowledge we learned this week to make us better at doing that job,” said Bomb Squad Commander Scott Heath.
