DOTHAN: Care Ambulance held a mandatory meeting this morning at 10:00 with the vice president and two representatives from Faulk, the company that owns Care Ambulance. The employees received word that they will be losing their jobs and Care Ambulance is closing in Dothan Alabama after almost 20 years of service in Dothan. There is just not enough business for two ambulance services.
Prior to today's announcement, CARE Officials have been in contact with the City of Dothan and Pilcher's Ambulance Service. That wanted to give ample time for adequate coverage for the City of Dothan.
I have spoken with Joey Pilcher this morning and he assures that service will continue as always and he is ready to handle the extra load.
Pilcher’s Ambulance Service has been in business since 1965. In the 49 years of business Pilcher’s has never missed a run. They will be providing all ambulance service in Dothan and back up for all Houston County Volunteer Ambulances.
Pilcher’s Ambulance also provides ambulance coverage for southern Dale County. Ozark EMS did provide coverage for southern Dale County. When they pulled out, Joey and Debbie Pilcher stepped out to provide coverage.
While we will have only one full time ambulance service, rest assured, all will be covered.
Since 1965, Joe and Ruby Pilcher made sure that ALL calls for ambulances were covered.
Some 49 years later, Joey and Debbie Pilcher have that same motto…”So that more may live”.
I started been working with Houston County Sheriff Department since 1977, I have never known Pilcher’s to miss a run.
NOTE TO CARE AMBULANCE EMPLOYEES: Go see Joey and Debbie. They will work with you in attempting to provide for you a job with Pilcher’s.
They realize all employees have families and needs and will work to help provide jobs for all they can.
