Hillcrest Apartments, located on the north side of Cottonwood are fully engulfed in flames.  This is an abandoned apartment building.  The fire has already blown some windows out.

Rickey stated that the Cottonwood command says that no one is to enter the structure.

Cottonwood Volunteer Assistant Fire Chief Ricky Owens has reported the fire is under control. It was contained to two apartments only, both being upstairs apartments.

Cottonwood Police Chief has reported that Alabama Power Officials are on the scene. Chief Edwards called for them to respond t make sure that electricity was off on the apartment complex.

Lovetown Volunteer Fire and Cottonwood Volunteer Rescue assisted Cottonwood Volunteer Fire on the scene. Both Cottonwood Police and Houston County Sheriff Department were on the scene.

Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management Director Clark Matthews was  notified of the fire. EMA resonse was not required because it was not hazardous materials and the apartment complex was unoccupied.
