On Monday October 20th, 2014 the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to two reported burglaries in the Cottondale, Florida area. One burglary was reported on Peanut Road near the intersection of Peanut Road and Eldridge Road. Unknown person(s) entered the residence by gaining entry through the back door. Once inside, an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen as well as a quantity of jewelry. No other items were taken.
The Sheriff’s Office also responded to a burglary on Douglas Road just a few miles northeast of the Peanut Road burglary. Entry was made into the residence by gaining entry through the garage door. Upon entry the suspect(s) then stole a large quantity of jewelry.
During these two burglaries, only jewelry and money was targeted. No electronics, firearms or other items were taken. These two burglaries appear to be similar in nature to the four other burglaries that occurred in the Graceville and Campbellton area in August. These burglaries are occurring during daylight hours when the homeowners are away from home. It is believed that the suspect(s) are targeting only money, medication, and jewelry.
A person of interest was observed by a local farmer at the Douglas Road burglary. A white male, possible grey hair, driving a red Ford F150, newer model, four door was parked at the garage door sometime after 12:00 p.m. on Monday.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is asking for your help in solving these burglaries. A cash reward of up to $3000.00 is being offered and anyone with any information about these crimes or the person(s) involved is asked to contact the Chiploa Crime Stoppers at 850-526-5000 or the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at 850-482-9624.
