CAE Flight Training Has Grand Opening Today

DALE - HOUSTON COUNTY: Today officials from the wiregrass area came together at the Dothan Airport to announce the opening of CAE.
CAE, a Canadian Company but based in Tampa Florida, opened a new facility of just under 80,000 square feet at the Dothan Airport. They have the contract for training Army and Air Force pilots for the United States of America.
The company won the contact from Flight Services.
CAE will employ at least 100 persons. They have flight simulators in the facility. On the average they will train 600 pilots each year.
Today, the United States Armed Forces has 180,000 men and women deployed in 140 countries protecting the United States of America.
Dothan Mayor Mike Schmitz, Alabama Governor Robert Bentley, United States Representative Martha Roby and a two star General spoke about the CAE facility and the value to our area.
The Master of Ceremonies was Charles Nailen, President of the Dothan - Houston County Airport Authority. He spoke of the wonderful working relationship with the military and area officials.
Along with Governor Bentley and Rep. Roby, area elected officials were on hand to include Dale County Commissioner Chairman Mark Blakenship, Ozark Mayor Bob Bunting, Houston County Commissioners Brandon Shoupe and Doug Sinquefield, Houston County Commission Chairman Mark Culver, Alabama State Representative Paul Lee, many Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce Officials, to include Matt Parker, Bob Woodall, Mark Saliba, Wiregrass Foundations Officials Barbara Alford, Scott Applefield and others.
