ASHFORD:              This past Sunday afternoon I had the distinct honor and privilege of attending the Celebration of Life services for 17 year old Cody Hayes.  I have specifically waited on this article because GOD has spoken to me through the services and life of Cody.

Allow me to say, I did not know Cody. I do know his parents and his uncle. Cody’s uncle and dad were raised at Southside Baptist Church as was I.

PSALMS 56:3

When I am afraid, I will trust in you.

CODY HAYES

Cody Hayes had an impact on life and people in the 17 short years he lived on this earth. The worship center was filled with students, football players, student government of Ashford High School. The students of Ashford High School ministered to Cody and his family. From what I gathered, they were awesome in showing their love during his battle.

The nurses from UAB – Children’s Hospital traveled from Birmingham Alabama to Ashford Alabama in order to attend the Celebration of Life Services for Cody. What a blessing it was to hear how Cody was the life of the hospital. That while he suffered, Cody roamed the halls ministering to others. Making others smile while he fought for his life.

The lead pastor of Watermark Church, Todd Thorpe, read a writing of Cody’s from school. Never give up on your goals. Always go after your goals and pursue them.

Cody Hayes was a fighter. He was determined. He gave the fight all he had.

PSALMS 90:12

Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

CODY’S DAYS

While Cody’s days were numbered short, he had an impact on many lives. Cody had a heart of wisdom and had faith in God.

Through Cody’s Celebration of Life service, through Pastor Todd Thorpe, through Watermark Church, through other events to include my Pastor Jim Tate at Memphis Baptist Church, my life has been touched. Through Cody and other events, God spoke to me and changed my heart on some issues of life.

STUDENTS AND FACILITY OF ASHFORD HIGH SCHOOL, MEMBERSHIP OF WATERMARK CHURCH

Many praises to the students and faculty of Ashford High School. You were awesome in your ministry and life of Cody. You were awesome in your presence for the Celebration of Life.

Watermark Church. While I have only attended funeral services at your church. Your ministry to the families and those in attendance, it is amazing. If you minister to those in attendance to your church by 1/3rd of what you do in death, your families are loved and cared for.

UAB – CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL

What a testimony to the life of Cody Hayes. For the nursing staff to travel from Birmingham for the Celebration of Life Service… enough said.

Cody Hayes had a distinctive impact on lives.
