On August 22, 2014 the Dothan Police Department arrested William Roberson, an employee of the department’s Animal Control Division on charges of Animal Cruelty.
Roberson’s charge stems from an incident in which he knowingly placed a live animal in a storage freezer at the Dothan Animal Shelter after reporting to work on August 22nd. The animal is believed to have been in the storage freezer for approximately 20 to 30 minutes before it was found alive by another employee. The animal, which was a mixed breed puppy, died shortly after being located.
An immediate investigation was conducted and resulted in Roberson’s arrest. He has been placed on administrative leave pending a determination hearing.
- William Henry Roberson, black male, 57 years of age, of Webb, Alabama was arrested and charged with Animal Cruelty. A bond amount has been set at $500.00.
All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
