ASHFORD/BIRMINGHAM: On Wednesday there was a tragic accident in Ashford where two young people were struck by a motor vehicle.
A few minutes ago one of the children in the accident passed away in a Birmingham Alabama hospital from injuries in the accident.
A vehicle was traveling east on Church Street into Ashford. As he approached the traffic signal at Broad Street in downtown Ashford, the driver turned left. According to reports the driver did have a green light.
The children were crossing the road and the driver did not see the children as he was making his left turn to travel north on Broad Street.
This accident in tragic. Two young people had injuries from being struck. One is 8 years old, Jaylee James, and she has passed away. The other child is older, I understand but UNCONFIRMED around 14 has injuries.
And the vehicle was driven by a young person who had no intent to harm or ever harm anyone.
In seconds many lives have forever changed. And our prayers are for the family and friends of these two precious little girls, but also for the young person driver of the vehicle.
Often times in situations like these, people are very critical of the driver. This is a tragic situation for EVERYONE involved. What they all need is PRAYERS and SUPPORT, and a community to wrap their loving arms around EVERYONE, the child recovering from injuries, the parents and family of the children, the young person driving the vehicle and his family.
PRAYERS LIFTED
