Chipley Man Possession of Obscene Material – Possess Photograph of Sexual Performance by a Child

The Chipley Police Department announces the arrest of Christopher Cartee, W/M, 31 years of age, of Chipley, for 22 counts of Possession of Obscene Material – Possess Photograph of Sexual Performance by a Child.
In May 2012, The Chipley Police Department began an investigation involving Possession of Child Pornography; Officers with the Chipley Police Department received information that Cartee had a laptop computer with child pornography. Officers subsequently obtained a search warrant for the laptop computer and with the assistance of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Computer Forensic unit found hundreds of obscene images contained on the laptop.
On May 23rd 2012, The Chipley Police Department, with assistance of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant at the Cartee residence, 678 4th Street in Chipley Florida. Officers collected computer and electronic media, which were sent to the FDLE computer forensics unit. Located from computers seized during the search warrant obscene images were located also.
On February 6, 2013, Christopher Cartee was arrested and charged with 22 counts of Possession of Obscene Material – Possess Photograph of Sexual Performance by a Child. Cartee was booked into the Washington County Jail on an $110,000 dollar bond.
Chief Kevin Crews stated, “Child Pornography is a serious crime with serious consequences…although Cartee did not take the photographs he was in possession of them and in turn is enabling those individuals who use the most fragile and innocent of us, our children, to either gain a financial profit or gratify their own personal needs.
