On July 26, at approximately 7:12 p.m., officers with the Chipley Police Department attempted to stop a silver Cadillac. While attempting to stop the car on S.R. 77 south the driver of the car fled from officers traveling north bound on 77. The driver then proceeded west bound on Brickyard Road, turning north onto Kirkland Rd. Once on Kirkland Road the driver of the Cadillac struck a Dodge truck. The driver of the Cadillac continued north on Kirkland crossing U.S. 90 onto Griffin Road The Cadillac reached speeds in excess of 60 mph. As the Cadillac crossed the railroad tracks on Griffin Road. it became airborne. The driver regained control of the car and proceeded west on Old Bonifay Road. Officers observed an unknown fluid coming from the undercarriage of the vehicle which was probably a result of jumping the railroad tracks. Just past Cope Road the Cadillac travelled through a resident’s yard pulling into a wooded area. A white male and a white female exited the vehicle and fled on foot into the woods. CPD officers were able to arrest both subjects. A subsequent search of the Cadillac revealed methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. No one was injured during this incident.
