On Tuesday, October 7th, members of the Washington County Drug Task Force, which consist of the Chipley Police
Department and Washington County Sheriff’s Office, began conducting a warrant roundup that consisted of 34 arrest
warrants on 25 suspects for felony charges of sell of controlled substances. On Friday, October 10th, members of the
drug task force ended the week long drug roundup with 19 arrested and 7 still being sought after, most for sell of
cocaine. This is the first round of arrests to be made in what has been a six month long investigation. Additional
arrests are anticipated in what is an ongoing investigation.

While attempting the arrest of Dwight Watford, on charges of sell of Cocaine at his residence, several subjects were
seen jumping a chain link fence and fleeing from the rear of the residence. After a short chase all subjects were
apprehended. Watford, who fled from the residence was also on Community Control and was wearing an anklet
monitor which GPS tracks his location. Watford was set a bond at $15,000 and is being held without bond for
violation of probation.

Four other subjects arrested on Tuesday were also on State Probation for other charges. In addition to these
subjects several arrested were also out on bond on other unrelated charges. All these individuals are being held
without bond. Bonds at first appearance ranged between $5,000 and $15,000 per charge.
During the course of the roundup an additional arrest was made while trying to apprehend Ernesto Gonzalez.
Gonzalez was a passenger in a car being driven by, Brett Satterfield. During the traffic stop it was determined that
Satterfield also had a warrant for contempt of court out of Gulf County.

The illegal drugs purchased during the undercover operation included methamphetamine, marijuana, cocaine, crack
cocaine, and various prescription medications to include Hydrocodone, Lortab, Amphetamine, and Xanax. Drugs
purchased in the undercover operation were bought with seized funds from narcotics arrests.

I would like to start by saying that an investigation of this size would absolutely not be possible if it weren’t for our
community getting involved and supporting the Chipley Police Department. Your calls to the office with tips does not
go unnoticed, as a matter of a fact several of these investigations were initiated because of your calls.
Six months is a long time to carry out an investigation of this size. We spent thousands of dollars and over 325 man
hours during the course of these cases, but I believe it is well worth it to take 25 people off our streets for selling
illegal drugs.

I know there are others ready to step right in the place of the ones that have been arrested. YOU need to know as the
Chief of Police and the Officer’s of the Chipley Police Department that we are committed to the citizens of Chipley, to
catch you and put you in jail if you continue to sell drugs in Chipley.”

Of the 25 suspects that had warrants for their arrest, 7 still remain at large.

The Chipley Police Department will aggressively confront users and dealers of illegal narcotics to deter this activity. I
strongly encourage anyone with information regarding illegal activity to contact the Chipley Police Department (850)
638-6310. If you want to remain anonymous you can call the Crime Stoppers of Washington County (850) 638-TIPS.
