City-Wide Storm Recovery Update (4-28-15, 11:50AM)

- City officials are continuing to monitor the storm that is currently impacting Mobile, AL
- Mayor Mike Schmitz has stated that approximately 4,000 individuals were fed yesterday through the City's efforts to provide food, water, ice, and gatorade to citizens affected by the recent storm
- Public Works has confirmed that there are no major road closures in the City of Dothan at this time
- Public Works has requested that citizens please separate green waste associated with the storm (trees and limbs) from all other trash as much as they possibly can
- The number of citizens without power is currently estimated to be below 1,500
- Last night, gunshots were heard by Dothan Utilities' crews that were working in the general areas of Selma Street, Duke Street, and Irwin Street. Due to safety concerns, those crews were pulled from these areas and police were called in to investigate. Please note that occurrences such as this result in storm recovery delays.
- Officials are working with the Alabama EMA office to determine if Dothan and Alabama qualify for assistance from FEMA
- Below is a reminder of the areas that Dothan Utilities is covering this morning:
Major areas working starting this morning:
· Hodgesville Road Circuit: Working on east Saunders (includes Wiregrass Drive) and Garden Estates.
· Continue working Selma Street (Ford Country).
· Cottonwood Road: Working to restore power from 3rd Avenue to Overpass.
· Tate/Stadium Area
· Plaza/Oak area.
· Petty, S. Bell, Melody, Dusy, Lena area.
· Crew will focus broken pole locations starting with Girard, then Brookside Drive.
· Colony Trailer Park.
· Service crews will be working throughout day tapping up released services.
The closures to Rose Hill Senior Center and the Biking and Walking Trails at Westgate Park have been lifted.
Eastgate Park is the only recreational facility that is still closed at this time.
