DOTHAN: Commissioner Kevin Dorsey would like to announce that the City of Dothan is implementing the “Clean-Up Where You Messed-Up Initiative,” a program that will utilize inmate labor this summer to clean-up the city’s streets.
Inmates sentenced as nonviolent offenders will be supervised by police personnel and working in neighborhoods throughout the city to pick-up trash and debris. These inmates will be allowed the opportunity to work in the program and in return receive consideration for a reduction in their jail sentence.
The “Clean-Up Where You Messed-Up Initiative” is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, June 30, 2015. “I am always looking for ways to improve my district and our city as a whole,” said Commissioner Dorsey, “Using supervised, nonviolent inmates to clean up public streets results in these areas being more attractive, safer places to live and it provides an opportunity for inmates to make restitution to Dothan through community service.”
