Commissioner Jackie Battles Suggests Improving Garbage Collection

HOUSTON COUNTY:    This morning Houston County Commissioner Jackie Battles questioned the Houston County Engineer about the test project of garbage collection.


Houston County Engineer Barkley Kirkland said some 200 plus customers in the Madrid area was the test area for automated garbage collection. The customers are satisfied. The Madrid Mayor has been great in helping the test area be a success.


Kirkland told the commission they have only had positive comments about the service. The cans are balanced and the customers are satisfied.


Commissioner Battles asked if this project can be placed on the next commission agenda and expanded to other areas of the county. The commission was in agreement.


Commissioner Harvey asked could the cans be a different color. Chairman Culver attempted to cut Commissioner Harvey off in the discussion.


I reminded Commissioner Harvey, the chairman can not make a motion and can only vote in the event of a tie. So it matters not what Chairman Culver wants...he is not the commission boss and as long as Commissioner Harvey has two votes, so what as to the Chairman's thought's
