COOK PLEADS GUILTY TO SEXUAL ABUSE

Robert Price Cook, 44, of Hartford, pled guilty in Geneva County Circuit Court on Monday to sexual abuse second degree. Cook was originally charged with Rape second degree. Cook received a one year suspended sentence, fine and court costs. Cook is also required to register as a sex offender. The victim in the case was under 16 years of age but over 12 years of age.According to Geneva County District Attorney Kirke Adams, the hard work of Investigator Kristin Atwell made this case strong, along with the cooperation of the victim. Atwell was able to recover DNA and a recorded telephone call between Cook and the girl. "From my meetings with law enforcement and the victim's family, it was clear that Cook being registered as a sex offender was very important. Thanks to their help, that was accomplished." Adams said.
