Mobile, Ala.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will waive day-use fees for veterans, active, reserve and guard service members and their families visiting its recreation areas nationwide November 11.

This waiver includes boat launch ramp and swim beach fees. However, fees for camping and camping related services as well as fees for specialized facilities, such as picnic shelters, will not be waived.

“The day-use fees will be waived at all of our recreation facilities in Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia in honor of our veterans and their families,”

Mobile District Chief of Public Affairs E. Patrick Robbins said. “You can get a complete listing and location of these recreation areas on our web site at http://www.sam.usace.army.mil .”

The Corps is the largest provider of outdoor and water-based recreation in the nation and hosts more than 350 million visits each year at its lakes, beaches and other areas.

Additional information about the Corps’ recreation program is available at  http://corpslakes.usace.army.mil/visitors/visitors.cfm
