On 2-27-16 at approximately 12:41 a.m. the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in reference to a vehicle burglary in progress.
The caller and his friend were passing by Marianna Pawn and Gun when they observed two individuals busting the windows out of a 1991 Honda Civic that was for sale on the lot. While communicating with the 911 operator they observed the subjects removing stereo items from the vehicle also.
The vehicle was a customized show car with Lamborghini style doors which open upward rather than outward. The suspects apparently were not aware of that and tried to snatch the doors open repeatedly damaging the hinges, door, and fender. Total damage to the vehicle, including the windows, is estimated at $3100.
Responding Deputies arrived within 2 minutes and the subjects fled on foot. One of the suspects fell in a ditch, shattering both bones in his lower leg below the knee and above the ankle. He was positively identified by the witnesses who were still on scene.
The second subject eluded capture by running into Arrowhead RV Park. The first subject, Steven Gregory Weeks, was transported to Jackson Hospital by ambulance and then to Tallahassee Memorial Regional Medical Center for surgery. Upon his release a warrant was obtained and he was placed under arrest and lodged in the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
The second subject is still at large. Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division or Crimestoppers at 526-5000.
