On 10/16/2014 at approx. 11:00 pm, an Officer with the Marianna Police Department was dispatched to the Tom Thumb located at 3008 Jefferson St. in reference to stolen wallet. Upon arrival the Officer learned from the victim that he had been in the store early that morning at approx. 2:00 am and left his wallet sitting on the counter. The victim stated the wallet contained $400 cash and different types of personal information.  He stated he came back to the store at approx. 7:00 am to retrieve his wallet but he was told his wallet was not there. The Officer then reviewed the surveillance footage from the store and obtained all pertinent information and turned it over to an Investigator.

On 10/17/2014 a copy of the footage was obtained and reviewed. The footage showed at approx. 2:00 am the victim approaches the counter and pays for his items. He departs the store leaving his wallet sitting on the counter. At approx. 2:10 am, two customers approach the counter and tells the clerk, Camden Griffith, that’s there is a wallet on the counter. Griffith picks the wallet up, opens it, look inside it, and then places on the window sill. The two customers then pay for their items and depart the store. A few minutes later, Griffith picks the wallet up and moves it to another location and doesn’t come back into camera view for over four and a half minutes.

On 10/18/2014 Griffith was interviewed by investigators with the Marianna Police Department. During the interview with Griffith the investigator was able to establish enough information to constitute probable cause to arrest Griffith. He was placed under arrest for Grand Theft and transported to JCCF to await first appearance.
