County Administrator Bill Dempsey RUDE To Dothan Man Who Has Mortgaged Himself To Create Jobs

HOUSTON COUNTY:  STUPID SLAP to Houston County Administrator Bill Dempsey.

This week a man who has placed his life savings on the line to open a new business visited "the people's" building, being the Houston County Administrative Tower in the 400 block of North Oates. 

The man was giving out VIP cards inviting people to try his new restaurant. You know the one which collects sales tax and pays Bill Dempsey's salary!

The man told me "the old man" on the sixth floor of the Houston County Administrative Building escorted him to the elevator telling him no soliciting and he had to leave.

Today I visited the first floor and sixth floor. There were no signs on the building that said "no soliciting". I ran into Administrator Bill Dempsey. He confirmed he escorted the man to the elevator. That it is against the county policy for someone to solicit in the county building.

I told Dempsey there were no signs. Dempsey said it was county policy and my reply was that it was not my job to read the county policy. But this man is trying to get a business started and stopped by handing out cards.

Dempsey said they did not have to post signs. In Dempsey's defense he said that he was in a business meeting and the man interrupted.

My position is, the man is just leaving VIP cards letting people know. That is how business starts. What Dempsey does not understand, the citizens can not take money by force from people's pocket like the government can. And this man mortgaged himself to take an adventure to make a living and provide jobs.

And while Mark Culver and members of the Houston County Commission might tolerate Houston County treating a new businessman with such disrespect, Rickey Stokes will not.

Culver, you need to make Bill Dempsey find this man and apologize. You spend hundreds of thousands of dollars recruiting business from out of town to come to Houston County, open a business and create jobs.

This man had 10 to 12 employees in the new business working. He has created jobs and is creating sales tax which in turn Houston County profits.

And Bill Dempsey showing him the elevator and telling him to leave, that is rude and proves the Houston County Commission could care less about really creating jobs. All you care for is to brag on TV you are working to create jobs then urinate in the local people's face who are trying to create the jobs.

Bill Dempsey needs reprimanding and a swift kick in the butt.

Dothan and Houston County have a long history of rudeness and harassment towards locals who want to create jobs. Yet they will fly all over the world, give away everything, bragging on TV, look we are creating jobs.

Get real. This really burns my butt the way this man was treated.
