Court 10 AM Dothan Federal Courthouse - Judge Comes To Dothan

DOTHAN:   Here comes the Judge...all the way from Montgomery to Dothan to conduct a hearing in the federal case of Mike Gamble and the Cooperative District of Houston County.

The controversy exists because there was discussion in the Cooperative Didstrict's questionable employment of Mike Gamble as their attorney. The majority of the board has reported to say they are not hiring and did not hire Mike Gamble as their attorney. Gamble said they have.

In this case there has been some legal paperwork filed. Some of the paperwork filed by Gamble makes allegations that he knows more than the members of the Cooperative District Board, and those who oppose him should be removed from the board and he should be allowed to continue.

This case is strange in that many legal experts have never seen where an attorney is attempting to force the client to employ him.

As we understand the employment agreement is a contingency agreement and one where Gamble could stand to make millions of dollars if he is successful. That successs could be tothe benefit of Attorney Keith Givens, who owned the property where Country Crossings was built. Gamble started his legal practice in Dothan with the firm of Cherry and Givens before opening his own practice.

Gamble has been a strong vocal opponent of the Country Crossings and electronic bingo. Gamble has appeared before the Houston County Commission on several occasions with demands for their actions on Country Crossings.

The hearing today in Federal Court is to determine if Gamble is the attorney for Country Crossings or not. Sandra Walden is working her way to the Federal Courthouse to cover the article for a play by play description of what happens.
