On 08/30/2012 at approximately 08:59 pm E911 received a call in reference to a robbery that just occurred. The caller stated that (1) black male entered the Cannon Oil Convenience Store on Andrews Ave in Ozark, Alabama and stole an undetermined amount of cash from the register.
The suspect was caught on video surveillance entering the store and demanding money from the clerk. The cashier was forced to open the register as the suspect took the undetermined amount of cash and coins. During this event the suspect stole the cashiers’ personal vehicle and fled the scene.
Approximately 10 minutes later the victims’ vehicle was spotted on County Road 36 in Ozark by Dale County Sheriff Deputies. Deputies then took (1) black male into custody and detained him until investigators could arrive on the scene. He also appeared to match the full description of the robber and he was found to be in the possession of assorted U.S. Currency.
Moments later the driver of the stolen vehicle was determined to be black male Howard Reese of Ozark, Alabama. Mr. Reese was armed with a knife and had a personal cell phone in his possession. He was also identified as the robber by the store clerk and surveillance video.
