DALE COUNTY: Today members of Dale County Sheriff Department, Sheriff Wally Olson, area law enforcement agencies and officers, Ozark Police Chief Marlos Walker, retired Dale County Sheriff Bryant Mixon, retired Geneva - Dale County Circuit Judge P.B. McLaughlin and others came together to honor one retiring.
Dale County Sheriff Chief Deputy Tim McDonald will officially retire on Friday. McDonald was appointed as Chief Deputy under the tenure of Sheriff Byrant Mixon. On Mixon's retirement McDonald continued as Chief Deputy under Sheriff Wally Olson.
McDonald leaves Dale County with 28 years under his belt with the Dale County Sheriff Department. McDonald was the driving force of the aviation unit for Dale County Sheriff Department.
In addition to his duties as second in charge of the Sheriff Department, McDonald was in the air all hours of the day and night in the air unit. All area agencies knew without a doubt, you call for help and Tim McDonald was near. Officers on the ground always felt extra safe when McDonald was flying overhead. They knew the "eye was in the sky".
Tim McDonald is a true public servant. He is kind and gentle. He was always ready to go to infinity and beyond in his service of the people of Dale County and the people of the wiregrass. For the past 28 consecutive years the wiregrass has never wondered if Tim McDonald would be there.
McDonald is passionate about law enforcement. But he is even more passionate about the aviation unit. His insight, along with Sheriff Mixon and Sheriff Olson support, was a proven resource in Dale County and the wiregrass with the aviation unit.
While we wish Tim McDonald well for his retirement years, his service will be missed.
