On 07/21/2012 at approximately 01:39 am authorities received a call in reference to a large party in the 2500 block of County Road 33 near Skipperville Community.
Law Enforcement from Ozark Police Department along with Deputies from the Dale County Sheriff Office responded. Callers also advised that there was possibly underage drinking and fighting going on at this time.
Once officers arrived on scene they came into contact with a very large crowd of teenagers. Seconds after arriving officers heard several gunshots ring out throughout the crowd of people.
Officers were unable to locate the actual person responsible for firing the weapon but did recover a handgun at the location.
Officers then took several people into custody for further investigation. During this time authorities discovered there were several underage drinkers present. Officers then administered alcohol level test to help determine who had been drinking.
Law Enforcement then transported all juveniles to the Ozark Police Department for processing. All others were transported to the Dale County Jail for processing.
There were over 25 arrests made by authorities and more arrests could be forthcoming in the following days. This case is still under investigation at this time.
