Dale County Sheriff Suicidal Person With Explosive Device

On Tuesday April 12^th at approximately 4pm Dale County Deputies along with Newton & Pinckard Police responded to Krisite Ct in Newton in reference to a suicidal person armed with an explosive device.  Newton and Pinckard Police Officers arrived on scene and quickly secured the residence and evacuated the neighboring homes. While officers were securing the scene it was determined that the subject was not at home and was possibly driving in the area. A BOLO was issued to surrounding agencies and “W.A.S.P.” (Wiregrass Aviation Support Program)  was activated. At approximately 5:40 PM a Dale County Deputy located the subject at the Choctawhatchee River @ Brown’s Crossroads. The subject was transported to Dale Medical Center for evaluation and was later transferred to the Dale County Jail and charged with manufacturing of a destructive device.

 

                Dothan Police Department’s Bomb Squad responded and assisted by rendering the house and suspect vehicle safe. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Newton and Pinckard Police Departments, Alabama Game and Fish, Dothan Police Departments Bomb Squad and Pilcher’s Ambulance Service.
