Dale County Sheriff's Deputies Respond to Assault Call I'm Ariton

On Wednesday October 26th at approximately 11: 30 PM Ozark/Dale County E911 dispatched deputies to the 8000 Blk of Hwy 51 in Ariton in reference to an assault in progress. On arrival deputies located the victim who was suffering from a significant head laceration. Ariton Fire & Rescue transported the victim to Dale Medical Center where he was treated. During the investigation deputies learned that the assault stemmed from two brothers arguing over property. The victim was struck in the head with a bat during the altercation. Both the suspect and victim exchanged gunfire during the incident which resulted in multiple shots being fired into the mobile home. Also in the home during the incident was the victim’s girlfriend and a small child. The suspect fled the scene prior to deputies arrival.
At approximately 2:00 AM deputies located the suspect vehicle at a residence in the 600 Blk of West CR-36 in the Marley Mill Community. Several attempts were made to contact the suspect but they were unsuccessful. At approximately 4:00AM the Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team made forcible entry into the residence and located the suspect. Investigators have charged Richard A. Fain II with Assault 2nd and Discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling. Fain is being held at the Dale County Jail on a $45,000 Bond.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Ozark Police Department and Ozark Fire and Rescue.
