Death Investigation On Going in Marianna

On Monday, June 20th, 2016 at approximately 6:05pm, officers with the Marianna Police Department responded to the basketball court located near the intersection of Green Street and Clinton Street, in reference to a subject who collapsed while playing basketball.


Upon arrival, officers assisted the subject until medical personnel arrived on scene. The subject was later taken to Jackson Hospital by Jackson County Fire and Rescue. The subject, Herman Williams, 19, was later pronounced deceased by Jackson Hospital staff.


The Medical Examiner’s Office was notified and took jurisdiction of the deceased. The cause of death is unknown at this time and is under investigation by the Marianna Police Department and the Medical Examiner’s Office.
