LEE COUNTY: The "chosen ones" are in place.
The Luther Strange Prosecution Team and the Mike Hubbard Defense Team have selected 16 men and women from Lee County to be the jury in the case of State of Alabama verses State of Alabama Speaker of the House.
The two teams ( prosecutors and defense ) have five black men, four white men, four black women and three white women as the 16 "chosen" ones. Of these 16,, only 12 will actually be the decision makers. However only the Judge knows who the alternate jurors will be.
The reason for four alternates, things happen during the trial where you could loose one of the 12 jurors. Those things rise from a juror's actions, sleeping, late, no show, etc... Also things include medical issues, death in family, sudden family illness, and just things in life.
The trial kick off is Monday morning. It is expected to last three weeks.
The Honorable Judge Jacob A. Walker instructed the jurors not to talk to anyone in this case or post anything on social media.
