Delta Sigma Theta Members Make Donation

Members of Delta Sigma Theta, a not-for-profit service sorority, recently made a donation to the SAMC Foundation to be used in SAMC’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The money will be used to purchase MamaRoo baby seats for premature babies.
The MamaRoo is used to calm babies by providing gentle motion and creating an environment similar to being in utero. The seats are particularly helpful in calming babies born with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, a group of problems that occur in a newborn who was exposed to addictive illegal or prescription drugs while in the mother’s womb.
The money donated by the sorority members will provide two MamaRoo seats for NICU babies. SAMC’s NICU has admitted more than 200 premature babies since opening in December 2015.
