MONTGOMERY, Alabama --- Attorney General Luther Strange has placed Deputy Attorney General Henry "Sonny" Reagan on administrative leave.
Acting Attorney General Van Davis announced the decision today.
Davis said he informed Strange on Wednesday that Reagan has had "undisclosed communications with individuals affiliated with people indicted or under investigation by the Lee County Special Grand Jury."
"Reagan also took other action to impede the investigation," Davis said in a statement released by Strange's office.
Strange launched the Lee County investigation last year to investigate House Speaker Mike Hubbard of Auburn and possible government corruption.
Hubbard has not been charged and has said the investigation is politically motivated.
Hubbard's lawyer, Mark White, issued a statement today questioning whether Reagan was placed on administrative leave in retaliation for exposing "secrets" in the attorney general's office.
