DEVELOPING: Enterrise Police Involved In A Shooting This MOrning On A Domestic Call

ENTERPRISE:   Enterrprise Police Officers, while on a cal this morning, were involved in a shooting.

We do not have all of the infomration at this time. As we understand around 4 AM Enterprise Police responded to a domestic call around 4 AM at Dogwood Acres Tariler Park. UNCONFIRMED sources report the officers were met at the door by the suspect.

Some type of altercation occured and the offficers are reported to have been required to use deadly physical force against the suspect. UNCONFIRMED reports are the suspect was shhot twice in the chest by officers with their .45 calibar service weapons.

The suspect was transported to Medical Center Enterprise and then transported to Flowers Hospital in Dothan. UNCNFIRMED reports are the bullets did not exit and the suspect is in surgery at Flowers Hospital in Dothan.

The officer(s) invovled in the shooting are reported to have received no injuries.

The case is under investigation by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation. It is a normal practice when officers are involed in a shooting for departments to requst the Alabama Bureau of Investigation That is what Enterprise Police Chief T.D. Jones did in this case.

The use of deadly physical force is deployed when you or someone else in your prescene feels your life or the life of someone else is in danger of death or serious physical injury. When a situation reaches the stage that deadly physical force is required, then a person ( officer ) is trained that you shoot center mass ( cchest ) until that person is no longer a threat. It is not called "wounded force", but "deadly physical force". Therefore when placed in a situation, officers are trained to stop that threat.

According to research, a person with a knife should never be allowed to get within 12 or 21 ( can nor remember the exact amount ) feet of the officer. A person in that close range of the officer can react towards the officer faster than the officer could pull their weapon and react.

Today, it seems the aggresiveness of suspects towards officers has increased to a level which places officers in the position to make a judegment call within seconds. That decision, which officers are placed in by suspects, means if the officer goes home or not.

We do not know all of the details at this time of what caused the officers to use deadly physical force on this domestic call.
