UPDATED @ 3:26 AM DEVELOPING: Stand Off In Midland City

MIDLAND CITY:   Midland City Police and Dale County Sheriff Deputies are  involved in a stand off where a man is threatening to take his life.

The location is on Kelly Street in Midland City. Several area streets are blocked off in the area.

As more details are known we will update.

Dale County Sheriff Wally Olson and Chief Deputy Tim McDonald are on the scene. Dale County Sheriff Deputies have Highway 134 at Daniel Street blocked.

Reports are a man is threatening to take his life. He is possibly depressed due to a domestic issue.

As more information comes available we will update.

As we never know if the person might be watching the web site we are limited as to what information we post. If the person is reading, taking your life is not the answer. The problems you are dealing with are only temporary and not permanent. DO NOT take your life and end this. My family deals with the fact that our loved one took his life and that of another. Dale County Sheriff Wally Olson has confirmed the stand off in Midland City is over. The incident was successful and the subject has been taken into custoday and transported to the Dale County Jail.

Sheriff Olson praised the joint efforts of all agencies that were involved in this incident. Sheriff Olson said Midland City Police, Dale County Sheriff Deputies, Ozark Police, Wiregrass Violent Crimes Unit, Dothan Police and Houston County Sheriff Department were involved.

Since this morning the agencies have been involved with a subject that was threatening suicide. They have maintained contact with him through the day. About 2:40 PM the subject surrendered peacefully.
