On 7-12-16 at approximately 2:54 PM the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Florida Highway Patrol in reference to a verbal disturbance that was taking place at the intersection of Hwy 273 and Springhill Rd in Campbellton.  It was further advised that a male and female were on a dark red truck and were outside of the vehicle arguing with each other. The Sheriff’s Office dispatched a deputy to the area in an attempt to locate the disturbance.

At approximately 3:03 PM  a 911 call was received from a witness which relayed information from the male subject that a female had just shot two people in the head on the side of the road at the same place as the verbal disturbance was reported. The witness went on to relay a detailed description about the shooting and information on how the male had fled the area with the female chasing him with the firearm. The male subject identified the shooting victim’s as his brother and sister.

The male subject that supposedly escaped the area was located hiding in the bushes in the City of Graceville across from West Florida Electric Company. Officers from the Graceville Police Department were able to locate the male subject in the bushes and transported him to the police department for further investigation.

The male subject appeared to be under the influence of unknown substances and was verbally and physically aggressive towards law enforcement while trying to gather further information on the supposed shooting. Jackson County Fire & Rescue was called to check the male subject due to his physical and mental state.

There were no victims located in the area that the shooting supposedly took place but a female was located on a dark red truck. She did identify the male subject at the police department as her boyfriend and advised that he had gone crazy while riding down the road and jumped out of the truck before running off and jumping into another vehicle with someone else headed towards Graceville.

Upon further investigation, it was confirmed that the male subject at the police department was an only child and no other persons had been present in the vehicle with him and the female as he relayed to the witness.

The male subject was transported to Jackson Hospital in Marianna where he was admitted for further evaluation. Upon being released, he will be transferred to the Jackson County Jail.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office wishes to thank the Jackson County Fire & Rescue, Graceville Police Department, Cottondale Police Department, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Bay County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Highway Patrol for their assistance in this investigation.
